Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, March 6 (NationPress) To facilitate the secure, efficient, and uncomplicated return of Punjab's citizens stranded in the troubled regions of West Asia, the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, has assigned two senior state officials to oversee and coordinate the entire operation.
Following the directives of Chief Minister Mann on Thursday, a 24/7 helpline has been set up immediately.
Additional Director General of Police R.K. Jaiswal has been appointed as the main overseer of the helpline, while Vimal Setia, Secretary of the Department of Home Affairs, serves as the nodal officer responsible for coordination and monitoring.
The nodal officer is tasked with maintaining constant contact with the Ministry of External Affairs.
This officer will track the actions taken by the Union government for the evacuation and safety of Indians stuck in West Asia and other regions.
A comprehensive log of all calls received on the helpline will be kept, ensuring prompt attention to inquiries.
In cases where matters need addressing with the Ministry of External Affairs or other relevant authorities, the nodal officer will prioritize those issues.
Chief Minister Mann stated, "This initiative has been launched in light of the urgent circumstances faced by Punjab residents stranded in West Asia and other nations. Our primary goal is to provide the necessary help and support to them and their families during this serious and unexpected crisis."
He added, "The Punjab government is resolutely with the Punjabis trapped in the Gulf region and is wholly dedicated to offering all possible assistance and cooperation to them."
