Doha, April 10 (NationPress) On Friday, Qatar's Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani engaged in discussions with his British counterpart Keir Starmer in Doha, focusing on the latest developments in the region following the recent ceasefire announced between the United States and Iran.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported that Sheikh Mohammed expressed his endorsement of the ceasefire and highlighted the critical necessity to capitalize on this moment to avert further tensions in the area.

According to the ministry, the leaders also deliberated on their bilateral relations and strategies to enhance cooperation, particularly regarding defense and economic matters.
Starmer's visit to the Gulf region aims to meet with partners to discuss diplomatic initiatives that support the ceasefire and seek a lasting resolution to the ongoing conflict.
During his visit, the Prime Minister intends to reaffirm his government's dedication to de-escalation and engage in further discussions on practical measures to restore freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, following encouraging developments from the ceasefire. A statement from 10 Downing Street ahead of his visit on Wednesday noted that the UK is at the forefront of international efforts to ensure the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
On Thursday, the British Prime Minister also met with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, in Abu Dhabi.
During this meeting, the Prime Minister expressed his solidarity with the Emirati people and offered condolences for the lives lost due to Iran's aggressive actions. The leaders concurred that Iran's attacks on civilian infrastructure are unacceptable. The Prime Minister welcomed the ceasefire and urged all parties to ensure it is respected and evolved into a lasting peace.
Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, they discussed the necessity of reinstating the free flow of goods to bolster global supply chains.
Starmer also had discussions with King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of Bahrain in Manama on Thursday.
Earlier on Wednesday, Starmer met with Mohammed bin Salman, the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, in Jeddah. They explored ways to deepen UK-Saudi defense industrial cooperation for long-term mutual security and capability enhancement.
