Raaj Shaandilyaa Responds to Allegations from Ektaa Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, March 5 (NationPress) Director Raaj Shaandilyaa, who recently ended his agreement with Ektaa Kapoor’s production company, Balaji Telefilms Limited, has responded to the claims made by the studio.
The director is recognized for his work on the film ‘Dream Girl’ under their banner. The production entity has accused him of violating a three-film contract, citing that he proceeded to direct ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’ without their consent.
In a statement released on Thursday, Shaandilyaa declared that he had adhered to his contractual obligations and labeled the accusations as “exaggerated and unfounded.”
He elaborated, “I had, in accordance with my contractual rights, given notice to terminate my agreement with Balaji Telefilms. It has now been over two weeks since this notice was issued. If Balaji Telefilms believes it has any valid legal grounds to contest this termination, they are free to approach the relevant civil court. No such actions have been taken. Instead, we are witnessing attempts to cast exaggerated and unfounded criminal allegations.”
Furthermore, he stated, “These claims are entirely baseless and seem to be merely an effort to intimidate after realizing that there is no substantial case to challenge the termination. I am fully confident about my legal standing and will address any allegations through the appropriate legal channels. It should also be noted that ‘Bhagam Bhag 2’ is progressing as planned, and I urge those in the film and creative industry to take note of the pressure tactics being employed, which may influence their future collaborations.”
Originally directed by the esteemed Priyadarshan, 'Bhagam Bhag' starred Akshay Kumar, Govinda, and Lara Dutta. The film was widely praised for its fast-paced comedy, misunderstandings, and engaging chase sequences, eventually becoming a cult classic in the comedy genre.
