Rajasthan's Opposition Supports Government Amid Crisis While Demanding Transparency: Jully
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Jaipur, March 26 (NationPress) Tikaram Jully, the Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, stated on Thursday that the opposition is committed to supporting the government during challenging times. However, he emphasized the necessity for transparency and public relief to be prioritized.
This statement came after his participation in an all-party meeting called by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma to address concerns regarding LPG and petrol supplies amid the ongoing conflict in West Asia.
In a significant remark, Jully expressed that during emergencies, the opposition is fully prepared to collaborate with both the government and the public.
“In times of crisis, the opposition stands alongside the government. We must avoid politicizing every issue,” he asserted.
Addressing economic issues, Jully urged the government to refrain from raising petrol and diesel prices under any circumstances. He noted that when global crude prices were low, both oil companies and the government had reaped substantial benefits.
Thus, in the current situation, the government should mitigate rising costs by reducing taxes and special cess instead of transferring the burden to citizens.
“If fuel prices are increased now, it will lead to a sharp rise in inflation, creating an unbearable strain on the common man and the economy,” he warned.
Jully also highlighted the importance of transparency to avoid causing panic among the public.
He called on the government to provide accurate, real-time information regarding the availability and distribution of essential goods. Details such as current demand, supply levels, and stock statuses of LPG, petrol, and other essentials should be disclosed. He pointed out the ongoing shortage of LPG cylinders, which is causing significant challenges for households, weddings, hostels, hotels, and industrial units.
Moreover, he raised concerns about the delays in approvals for Piped Natural Gas (PNG), alleging that files and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) have been stalled for an extended period. “Those responsible for these unnecessary delays must be held accountable,” he stated.
Jully reiterated the opposition's commitment to voicing public concerns to the government, maintaining a constructive approach towards public welfare and state security. He underscored the necessity for the government to ensure that citizens are not left struggling for basic necessities during this crisis.
