Jaipur, April 2 (NationPress) Tika Ram Jully, the Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajasthan and a seasoned Congress figure, launched a fierce critique of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) administration on Thursday. He accused the ruling party of inadequacies in governance, inflation management, and upholding constitutional principles during a public rally in Beawar, part of the Congress initiative 'Sangathan Sashakt Karo, Loktantra Bachao' (Strengthen Organisation, Save Democracy).

Jully emphasized that the tenets of democracy and the Constitution crafted by B.R. Ambedkar are under siege. He remarked, "We (Congress) will not retreat, even if it demands the ultimate sacrifice, to defend the Constitution," drawing inspiration from poet Dushyant Kumar to characterize the present moment as a pivotal juncture.

The Congress leader criticized the BJP for neglecting the escalating costs of living, highlighting the significant rise in petrol prices over the years. He also questioned the government's response to issues faced by Indians abroad and pointed out delays in disbursing MNREGA wage payments.

Addressing the BJP’s “double-engine” narrative, Jully remarked, "A second engine is only necessary when the first one has failed." He alleged that while the "Delhi engine" has come to a halt, the "Rajasthan engine" is directionless.

He took aim at Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma's trips to Delhi, asserting that Rajasthan has not received its fair share of funding. "These trips are not aimed at Rajasthan's development but are designed to protect political interests," Jully stated.

Touching on the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP), he claimed that the project has undergone only a name change, lacking true progress. He asserted that merely renaming the ERCP does nothing to alleviate the pressing issues of water scarcity in the region.

On the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti, Jully called upon the public to acknowledge their collective strength, invoking comparisons to Lord Hanuman. He also accused the state government of disregarding decisions made by the previous Congress administration, including the elevation of Beawar to district status.

He concluded his address by reaffirming that Congress will persist in raising public issues and advocate for Rajasthan's rightful claims.
