Jaipur, Dec 2 (NationPress) The Leader of the Opposition in Rajasthan, Tika Ram Jully, has vehemently criticized Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma for his numerous trips to Delhi, raising alarms about the diminishing administrative autonomy of the state.
Jully condemned the BJP government, stating that Rajasthan has been downgraded to an “unofficial Union Territory,” where “decisions are made in Delhi, not Jaipur.”
He remarked that in the past, Chief Ministers used to return from Delhi with “gifts” such as new schemes, vital projects, and industrial investments for Rajasthan.
“However, the current Chief Minister,” he claimed, “appears to have one foot permanently in Delhi. It seems that all political and administrative decisions are dictated from there, while the Chief Minister merely follows suit.”
Jully countered the statements made by Cabinet Minister Avinash Gehlot, pointing to the Central government's recent response in the Rajya Sabha regarding the Eastern Rajasthan Canal Project (ERCP).
Previously, Avinash Gehlot took to social media, tagging Jully and asserting, “It is evident to the people of Rajasthan why your Chief Minister visited Delhi almost weekly when you were part of the cabinet in the Congress government. The struggle for power overshadowed the welfare of the people.”
“Today, our Chief Minister @BhajanlalBjp ji travels to Delhi with a clear goal — to foster Rajasthan’s development. His visits aim to enhance coordination with the Central Government and maximize benefits for the state.”
“The invitations sent to the Prime Minister, Home Minister, National President, and various Union Ministers for inaugurations and foundation stone ceremonies are part of Rajasthan’s preparations for Pravasi Diwas and the celebration of our government’s achievements over the past two years. Your frustration, along with that of your Congress party, arises from your inability to accept the extensive public welfare initiatives being implemented by our government. Rather than making unfounded accusations, you should fulfill the genuine responsibilities of the Opposition by providing constructive suggestions,” he concluded, signing off with 'Jai Jai Rajasthan'.
In a sharp rebuttal to Minister Gehlot’s comments, Jully highlighted that the Chief Minister has made at least 24 trips to Delhi in the last 24 months.
“What did Rajasthan gain from these 24 visits? Tell the public what 24 gifts Rajasthan received in return,” he challenged.
“Development isn’t achieved through invitations and photo ops.” Jully further exposed what he termed the “true face of the double-engine government.”
He noted that the Central government, in its reply to the Rajya Sabha on Monday, explicitly stated there is no proposal or intention to grant national project status to the ERCP.
“If the state’s most crucial life-saving project cannot achieve national status despite all these visits to Delhi, what is the purpose of such frequent trips?” he questioned.
The Leader of the Opposition urged the state government to stop lecturing the opposition and instead “fight for Rajasthan’s rights in Delhi and deliver tangible results to the people.”
