Jaipur, April 15 (NationPress) Chief Secretary V. Srinivas highlighted the essentiality of creating a robust industrial ecosystem that integrates the refinery with downstream sectors to propel Rajasthan's industrial progress.
He instructed officials to hasten the completion of a proposed tripartite agreement aimed at ensuring a smooth supply of feedstock from the refinery to industries located within the Rajasthan Petro Zone (RPZ), Balotra.
During a meeting at the Government Secretariat, Srinivas assessed the status of the agreement involving HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited, downstream industries, and the state government.
Officials reported that a 9 MMTPA Petroleum Refinery-cum-Petrochemical Complex is under construction at Pachpadra (Balotra), a collaborative effort between the state government and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited, which will be managed by HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited.
Shikhar Agarwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Industries), indicated that the RPZ has been established by the Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation near the refinery to promote effective utilization of by-products and feedstock. These resources are expected to bolster the growth of the plastic, chemical, and related industries, creating substantial investment and employment opportunities in the region.
He noted that a draft of the tripartite agreement has been prepared in accordance with the directives from the Chief Minister.
The purpose of the agreement is to create a structured framework for the supply, management, and optimal use of refinery outputs, thus fortifying an integrated industrial ecosystem.
The Chief Secretary urged officials to prioritize the completion of all necessary formalities, especially with the refinery's inauguration by PM Modi scheduled for April 21.
Senior officials from HPCL Rajasthan Refinery Limited, Rajasthan State Industrial Development and Investment Corporation, the Industries Department, and the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas were present at the meeting, concentrating on accelerating the implementation to stimulate industrial investment and growth in Rajasthan.
