Jaipur, February 24 (NationPress) - The Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister, Diya Kumari, announced in the Assembly on Tuesday that the state government has created a Detailed Project Report (DPR) valued at Rs 275.68 crore for the execution of the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit Development Plan.
The Review Committee, led by the Rajasthan Heritage Authority, approved the outlined initiatives under this DPR on February 3, 2026. Kumari mentioned that the establishment of new tourism circuits and projects not only generates direct but also indirect job opportunities for the local populace.
The government will focus on ensuring maximum employment for the residents in the area.
This initiative is set to create opportunities for local suppliers and laborers, while also benefiting tour operators, guides, hotels, parking services, cafés, souvenir shops, handicrafts, and homestay services.
In response to additional questions from MLA Deepti Kiran Maheshwari during the Question Hour, the Tourism Minister stated that prior to the development of assets under the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit Development Scheme, consultations would take place with local authorities to guarantee effective maintenance and management.
Regular assessments will be conducted by the District Tourism Development Committee, overseen by the District Collector. She noted that there is, at present, no plan to link the circuit with any digital promotion initiatives.
However, the department aims to market the suggested destinations via print, electronic, and social media, along with departmental digital channels and printed promotional materials, to attract a greater number of domestic and international tourists.
Previously, in a written response to the original inquiry, the Tourism Minister indicated that under paragraph 55 of the State Budget 2024-25 (dated February 8, 2024), a budget of Rs 100 crore was allocated for the enhancement of the Maharana Pratap Tourist Circuit, which encompasses significant locations associated with the life of Maharana Pratap, such as Chavand, Haldighati, Gogunda, Kumbhalgarh, Diver, Udaipur, and others.
She announced that the Rajasthan State Road Development Corporation and the Rajasthan Heritage Authority have been designated as the implementing bodies, with the latter responsible for monitoring the project.
In January 2025, financial and administrative clearance for Rs 100 crore was granted for the DPR's preparation, and Rs 2.83 lakh was expended on the Concept Project Report (CPR).
Moreover, she stated that given the Maharana Pratap Circuit Project is deeply intertwined with the pride and public sentiment of Mewar, comprehensive consultations were held at various levels, leading to the DPR's formulation after incorporating the feedback received.
The financial approval process for the DPR is currently ongoing, following which development activities will commence accordingly.
