Mumbai, Nov 11 (NationPress) Actor Rajesh Tailang, currently preparing for the launch of the third season of his International Emmy-winning streaming series ‘Delhi Crime’, has expressed a desire to delve into roles that extend beyond the conventional good characters he frequently portrays.
Speaking to IANS in Mumbai's BKC area, Tailang reflected on his diverse roles, including his character in the acclaimed series ‘Mirzapur’, which features moral complexities, alongside his adept portrayal of virtuous characters.
He mentioned, “I am feeling a bit stagnant, which is why I'm seeking different opportunities. I have ventured into comedy and am now tackling a negative character. However, I often find that portraying a positive character is more challenging, as keeping the audience engaged is quite demanding.”
In ‘Delhi Crime’, Rajesh plays Inspector Bhupendra Singh, teaming up with Shefali Shah, who portrays the astute police officer Vartika Chaturvedi, leading her unit through strenuous investigations amid significant public and political scrutiny. The inaugural season was centered around the harrowing 2012 Delhi gang rape incident, while the second season focused on the notorious 'Kachha Baniyan Gang', which targeted and murdered elderly residents in the capital.
This series is distinguished by its authenticity, emotional resonance, and exploration of systemic issues in India's law enforcement. Garnering global acclaim for its sensitive and realistic approach, ‘Delhi Crime’ won the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series, establishing itself as one of the most impactful Indian productions on Netflix.
The much-anticipated third season will premiere on Netflix on November 13.
