What Insights Did Tanuj Chopra Consider for 'Delhi Crime' Season 3?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Nov 9 (NationPress) Director Tanuj Chopra, who has taken the reins for both the second and upcoming third seasons of the internationally acclaimed streaming series 'Delhi Crime', has revealed the various perspectives he contemplated before diving into the writing phase for the show’s third installment.
In an interview with IANS in Mumbai’s BKC area, Tanuj expressed his intent to continue the narrative from the conclusion of the second season.
He mentioned, “We need to keep our characters and storylines progressing, but there was a slight pause at the end of season 2 where the Delhi team faced a transfer as a disciplinary measure. This leads us to our start point. The major question was, ‘Where do we kick off season 3? Should we begin with her preparing to leave, or jump two years ahead?’ So, the first step is deciding the starting point for this story continuation, and we choose to resume with Vartika's situation a year later.”
“Next, we considered how much the characters have evolved during this time—who has advanced, who has taken on more responsibility. For example, Neeti has stepped up significantly, now assuming some of Vartika's duties in Delhi. Vartika herself has progressed beyond her role as DCP; she is now a DIG,” he elaborated.
The third season commences with Shefali Shah’s character, Vartika Chaturvedi, who has received a promotion to DIG in Assam.
'Delhi Crime' features Shefali in the role of a sharp police officer leading her team through intense investigations amid substantial public and political scrutiny. The series is distinguished for its realism, emotional depth, and depiction of systemic issues within India’s law enforcement. Globally acclaimed for its sensitivity and authenticity, Delhi Crime clinched the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series, solidifying its reputation as one of the most impactful Indian shows on Netflix.
The highly anticipated third season is set to premiere on Netflix on November 13.
