Jammu, Jan 6 (NationPress) Residents in the Kalakote area of Rajouri district, Jammu and Kashmir, are experiencing a renewed sense of hope as their ongoing struggle with poor road conditions has finally come to an end. The roads, which were severely damaged and filled with potholes, are now being repaired, with extensive work ongoing to address a significant stretch of the damaged roadway, greatly benefiting those living in this border district.

The resolution of this persistent road issue is largely attributed to the efforts of the Border Roads Organisation (BRO). Their teams are actively engaged in blacktopping the streets in the Balli region of the Kalakote subdivision. This improvement is not only enhancing the rural infrastructure but is also a cause for celebration among the local population.

For many years, the roads were in a deplorable condition, posing significant risks to commuters and leading to frequent accidents. The lack of maintenance had resulted in daily challenges for residents, who found themselves navigating treacherous paths.

With the BRO's intervention in blacktopping the roads, seamless connectivity is on the horizon, promising better access to remote regions.

Local inhabitants have voiced their appreciation for this initiative, expressing gratitude towards the Border Roads Organisation and the central government for prioritizing development and safety in the underdeveloped areas of Rajouri district. It's reported that around 3 kilometers of roadway is currently being constructed, with BRO teams working diligently to complete the project soon.

One local resident shared with IANS, “The repair of this road was crucial. People were facing challenges for years. The BRO is doing commendable work, which will not only enhance the roads but also create job opportunities for the community.”

Another resident remarked on the frequent accidents caused by the numerous potholes and commended the BRO for their excellent work, bolstered by the support of the central government.
