Kolkata, Jan 31 (NationPress) Kolkata Police have detained a staff member from a renowned bar and restaurant in Park Street for allegedly serving beef in place of goat meat to YouTuber Sayak Chakraborty.

This arrest occurred on Saturday following a complaint that Sayak filed at the Park Street Police Station the previous night.

A senior Kolkata Police officer stated, "One employee from a popular restaurant/bar in Kolkata's Park Street has been apprehended on accusations of serving beef instead of goat meat to a YouTuber after he filed a complaint with the Park Street police. A case has been recorded against the individual, and an inquiry into the situation is underway."

Sayak visited the well-known bar and restaurant Olypub on Friday evening accompanied by two friends. As per his complaint, they had ordered mutton steak but were purportedly served beef instead.

Following this incident, Sayak posted a video of his confrontation with the waiter and manager on social media, which quickly gained traction.

In the Facebook video, Sayak recounted his experience, stating that he and his friends had ordered mutton, yet the waiter presented them with beef.

"Do you know that I am a Brahmin? How could you serve me beef?" Sayak was heard lamenting in the clip, which also featured the restaurant manager smiling at one point. "This is not a laughing matter," expressed one of Sayak's friends.

In the aftermath of the incident, the BJP criticized the restaurant.

"A well-known blogger, actor, and his friends visited Olypub, a restaurant situated in Park Street, and ordered mutton steak. However, they were served beef steak instead! The waiter later returned with a mutton steak, citing it was a mistake. Subsequently, even the manager attempted to brush it off as an error while smiling! Why are Hindus targeted in this manner? Imagine the uproar had it been meat from another community," stated BJP leader Keya Ghosh in a social media post.
