Nanded, Feb 10 (NationPress) - A tragic shooting incident occurred on Monday morning outside a Gurudwara in Maharashtra's Nanded city, resulting in the death of one individual and injuries to another. This attack is believed to be connected to the fugitive terrorist Harwinder Singh Sandhu, commonly known as Rinda, who is wanted by the NIA with a bounty of Rs 10 lakh.

The victim, Ravinder Singh Rathore, lost his life, while Sevadar Gurmeet Singh sustained injuries when two assailants on a motorcycle opened fire at them at approximately 9:30 a.m. near Gate No. 6 of the Gurudwara in the Shahidpura area, according to a senior police official from Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district.

Authorities indicated that Gurmeet Singh was likely the primary target due to his alleged involvement in the 2016 killing of Rinda's brother, Surinder Singh.

Gurmeet had been recently released on parole on January 22, as confirmed by police reports.

"It appears that Gurmeet was the intended target, and Ravinder was inadvertently hit. A bullet aimed at Gurmeet struck Ravinder fatally in the abdomen," a police officer stated.

This incident is believed to be orchestrated by Rinda, who claims to be the leader of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI) in India, seeking revenge for his brother's death.

Prior investigations by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) have linked Rinda and his associates to a broader conspiracy aimed at instigating terror in Punjab and other regions of India.

Before his involvement in terrorist activities, Rinda was engaged in student politics. Originally from the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, he relocated with his family to Nanded at the age of 11.

According to law enforcement records, Rinda committed murder at the age of 18 related to a family feud. He has faced multiple FIRs across two police stations on charges of murder, attempted murder, and violations of the Arms Act. Two additional cases were filed against him in 2016, after which he was declared a fugitive.

Rinda's brother, Surinder Singh, was reportedly murdered by Gurmeet Singh in 2016 under the orders of another individual, Roshan Singh Mali, with whom Rinda had a longstanding feud, as per police investigations.

Following these events, Rinda and his gang retaliated by killing Mali's brother and other individuals they suspected were involved in the murder.

Security agencies suspect that Rinda is currently in Lahore, Pakistan, under the protection of cross-border entities. From this location, he has allegedly orchestrated various cross-border terrorist attacks and extortion schemes.

Authorities claim that Rinda has formed a local gang to carry out extortion activities.

In recent incidents, he was implicated in the murder of a prominent builder in Nanded, Sanjay Biyani, as part of his extortion endeavors.
