RJD Critiques Nitish Kumar's Continued JD-U Presidency Amid Political Tensions
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, March 24 (NationPress) The unchallenged reappointment of Nitish Kumar as the National President of the Janata Dal-United on Tuesday sparked sharp reactions from leaders of the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). Prominent figures Misa Bharti and Tejashwi Yadav launched political critiques addressing various issues, including dynastic politics and the party's internal governance.
In response to the news, RJD MP Misa Bharti stated that it was "a positive development" for Nitish Kumar to resume his role as JD-U President, but she quickly shifted to criticism, highlighting what she perceived as a contradiction in the Bihar Chief Minister’s views on dynastic politics.
"The most commendable aspect of Nitish Kumar is that he will no longer address dynastic politics. He has involved his son, Nishant Kumar, in politics. Thus, we can expect him to refrain from criticizing dynastic politics now," Bharti remarked, referencing the recent political entry of his son.
As an RJD leader and daughter of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, Bharti extended her wishes with a hint of political sarcasm.
"Best wishes to him (Nitish Kumar) from my side — may he enjoy good health and eventually achieve the position of Deputy Prime Minister here in Delhi. This is my aspiration for Nitish Kumar," she concluded.
In the meantime, the Leader of the Opposition in the Bihar Assembly, Tejashwi Yadav, questioned Nitish Kumar's power within his own party, insinuating that the real authority lies elsewhere.
"While Nitish Kumar has become the JD-U President, the decisions are being driven by others. There are three or four individuals within the JD-U who are actually calling the shots while projecting Nitish Kumar as the face of the party," Yadav accused.
He further alleged that these individuals have a collusion with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), intending to undermine the JD-U from within.
"They are in collaboration with the BJP to dismantle the JD-U and are actively pursuing that agenda," Yadav asserted.
Nitish Kumar was re-elected unopposed as the National President of JD-U after no other candidates submitted nomination papers by the March 22 deadline, rendering the planned internal election unnecessary. This marks yet another term for the experienced leader, solidifying his influence over the party's organizational framework.
