New Delhi, Nov 17 (NationPress) JD(U) Chief Spokesperson Neeraj Kumar reacted on Monday to statements made by RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter, Rohini Acharya, referring to her as the 'daughter of Bihar' after she openly conveyed her profound hurt regarding family matters.
In an interview with IANS, Neeraj Kumar stated, “This is an internal issue for them, but the critical concern is that they have been undermining Bihar’s progress and disturbing communal peace. The legacy of Jananayak Karpoori Thakur, who lived and died in poverty, is being misappropriated.”
He emphasized, “While this is a family issue within Rashtriya Janata Dal, it is crucial to recognize that Rohini Acharya is not merely from a political lineage; she is a true daughter of Bihar. The family discord has now become public. She voiced her sorrow, indicating she is deeply affected by the current situation...”
Neeraj Kumar's remarks followed Rohini Acharya’s announcement of her withdrawal from politics and her intention to distance herself from her family, which sparked political reactions throughout Bihar.
JD(U) State President Umesh Kushwaha also weighed in, acknowledging the sensitivity of the circumstances while commending Rohini’s personal sacrifices.
He remarked, “This is entirely their family affair... However, the example set by Rohini Acharya, who donated her kidney to her father, shows the strength of a daughter. Just days ago, the daughter-in-law of the same household was seen leaving in tears...”
LJP (Ram Vilas) MLA Veena Devi voiced her concerns from a maternal viewpoint, stating, “Seeing Rohini Acharya in tears was distressing for me as a mother. Decisions should be made within one’s home; family matters should remain private.”
Minister Santosh Kumar Suman called for restraint and respect, emphasizing, “Such incidents should not occur; everyone deserves dignity. Regarding the internal issues, I am unaware of the specifics about who is troubling whom...”
BJP MLA Manorama Devi shared similar sentiments, asserting, “Women should be treated with the same respect as our sisters and daughters... It is tragic to witness this happening to someone who saved her father’s life.”
Rohini Acharya accused her family of subjecting her to verbal abuse and humiliation, stating that she was subjected to “filthy abuses,” was threatened with a slipper, and was ultimately expelled from her home.
Previously, she announced on X that she is “quitting politics” and “disowning” her family, claiming her decision was influenced by Sanjay Yadav and Rameez, close aides to Tejashwi Yadav.
