Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chandigarh, March 31 (NationPress) As the wheat procurement season kicks off in Punjab on April 1, the Central government, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has committed to supporting farmers by announcing a cash credit limit (CCL) of Rs 30,973 crore at a minimum support price (MSP) of Rs 2,585 per quintal.
The Punjab unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) expressed its gratitude towards the Central government for this pivotal initiative.
Punjab BJP spokesperson Pritipal Singh Baliawal provided insights regarding this decision, stating that it underscores the appreciation for farmers’ efforts and represents a significant advancement towards enhancing their economic stability.
In his criticism of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab, Baliawal remarked that the state administration has neglected its duties and has not even acknowledged the Central government's commendable actions.
He accused the AAP government of trying to obscure the Central government's contributions and misguiding the populace. Baliawal pointed out that for the past 11 years, the Union government has consistently provided this limit punctually for the benefit of Punjab’s farmers, whereas the AAP government has failed to make any substantial contributions in the last four years.
Baliawal asserted that the Punjab government must ensure that farmers experience no hindrance in the mandis and that all their produce is procured according to established protocols.
He reiterated that the Modi administration has consistently made decisions favorable to farmers, and this recent announcement is a continuation of that tradition. Baliawal assured that both the Central government and the Punjab BJP will remain dedicated to advancing the interests of farmers.
