Moscow, Oct 2 (NationPress) Russia and Ukraine have successfully completed an exchange of 185 prisoners of war (POWs) from each side, as announced by the Russian Defence Ministry on Thursday.
This exchange aligns with the Russian-Ukrainian agreement established during recent discussions in Istanbul on July 23, where 185 Russian servicemen were returned from areas under the control of Kyiv. In a reciprocal action, 185 Ukrainian POWs were released by Russia, according to the ministry, as reported by Xinhua News Agency.
Furthermore, the ministry stated that 20 Russian civilians have also been retrieved from regions governed by Kyiv.
Currently, the repatriated servicemen and civilians are in Belarus, receiving essential medical and psychological support before their transfer to Russia for additional treatment and rehabilitation.
