Is Sam Altman Still Waiting for His Tesla After 7.5 Years?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
New Delhi, Oct 31 (NationPress) OpenAI's founder and CEO Sam Altman revealed on Friday that he has been waiting for over 7.5 years for a Tesla vehicle he reserved but has yet to receive.
Altman disclosed that he paid a reservation fee of $45,000 for the electric car, but he has now opted to request a refund from the company led by Elon Musk.
In a post on social media platform X, Altman shared three screenshots of his email correspondence with Tesla.
The initial screenshot confirmed his reservation, while the second displayed his email requesting the cancellation of the order and a refund.
Unfortunately, the third screenshot indicated that his refund request email was undeliverable, showing an “address not found” error message.
While sharing the screenshots, Altman humorously captioned the post, “A tale in three acts.” He added in a following comment, “I genuinely was eager for the car! I understand delays. But 7.5 years has seemed like an eternity to wait.”
The post quickly gained traction, receiving thousands of reactions and comments, including a playful remark from Altman’s brother, Jack Altman.
In a light-hearted jab, Jack shared a photo of Sam with a quote saying, “Whether we burn $500 million, $5 billion, or $50 billion a year -- I don’t care,” joking, “You can’t be worrying about 50k like this.”
Sam humorously responded to his brother’s comment, stating, “little brother energy is the WORST.”
As of now, Tesla has not issued a statement regarding Altman’s post. Meanwhile, the company recently began delivering the standard Model Y to customers in India last month.
The electric vehicle manufacturer announced that deliveries for the Long Range variant will commence shortly in the country.
Additionally, it revealed that new Model Y owners will receive a complimentary Wall Connector, allowing for easy installation in their parking areas for convenient home charging.
