Patna, April 21 (NationPress) Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha on Monday came to the defense of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding the Murshidabad violence and her position on the Waqf Act, asserting that the act is being advanced with a specific agenda while the violence in Murshidabad was a premeditated conspiracy.
“Amendments to the Waqf Bill were pushed forward with a particular agenda. Mamata Banerjee rightly noted that the Waqf Act was introduced with specific intentions, and the recent amendments were expedited clearly for political reasons,” the senior MP remarked to IANS.
Regarding the violence in Murshidabad, the veteran actor-turned-politician termed the event “a carefully orchestrated conspiracy” and accused elements within the BJP of inciting communal discord.
“It is profoundly sad and painful, deliberately so. This is a conspiracy, a well-crafted plot, particularly by some of our associates (BJP) from the ruling party. They are attempting to fracture Hindu and Muslim families. It’s not only sad but also shameful,” he stated.
In response to the controversy surrounding Leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi’s comments abroad, Sinha provided strong support: “If what Rahul Gandhi said is accurate, why the discomfort? The truth always prevails - Satyamev Jayate. The PM speaks of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - if the world is one family, India and America are alike.”
He reiterated that LoP Rahul Gandhi’s statement was not unprecedented and had previously been made domestically without repercussions.
He also praised the West Bengal Chief Minister, recognizing her as one of the most formidable leaders in the nation.
“I have consistently stated that Mamata Banerjee is not just an effective leader; she is among the tallest and most powerful leaders in the country. As the only female Chief Minister, she stands out as the most influential, popular, and significant leader on the national stage,” Sinha concluded.
