Visakhapatnam, Nov 23 (NationPress) Six individuals tragically lost their lives in two separate drowning incidents in northern Andhra Pradesh on Sunday.

The first incident involved three young boys who drowned in the Jhanjhavathi rubber dam located in the Parvathipuram Manyam district. The unfortunate event unfolded while the boys were bathing in the dam formed by the Jhanjhavathi River in Komarada mandal. The victims, identified as Sharat, Govind Naidu, and Pradeep, all hailed from Sivini village within the same district, and were accompanied by their relatives.

Eyewitnesses reported that one boy began to struggle in the water. As the other two attempted a rescue, all three were swept away.

Upon receiving the distress call, police arrived at the scene and initiated a search operation with the assistance of trained swimmers. In a separate incident, one individual died and two others went missing after a boat capsized in the Raiwada reservoir in Alluri Sitharamaraju district.

This incident took place near Jinapadu in Anantagiri mandal. Police, aided by expert swimmers, managed to recover a body while the search continued for the missing individuals. The deceased was identified as Jeevan from Jinapadu. Authorities stated that the incident occurred as the victims were returning to shore after a boat ride.

The Agriculture Minister, K. Atchenaidu, was informed about the Jhanjhavathi rubber dam incident and was briefed that the boys who drowned were from Sivini village in Komarada mandal. The minister instructed officials to enhance the search efforts and to erect warning signs around the dam to prevent future tragedies.

Among them were two children, aged 8 and 9, who drowned while playing in a tank at Pandhigunta in Srikakulam district. In another case, a 16-year-old student also drowned in a tank at Rushikudda, also in Srikakulam. Additionally, in Tirupati, two men lost their lives while swimming in an irrigation project.
