In the village of Pullukulangara, located in Alappuzha district, Kerala, a shocking incident unfolded on December 1. A son, identified as Navjeet (30), a lawyer practicing at Mavelikkara court, has been accused of brutally murdering his father, Natarajan (63), and critically injuring his mother, Sindhu (49), during a violent altercation at their home.

The attack occurred on a Sunday night when Navjeet reportedly assaulted his parents with a knife. Neighbors, drawn by the sound of screams, rushed to the scene, only to encounter a horrific sight: the parents lying in a pool of blood while Navjeet remained nearby, clutching the weapon.

Law enforcement arrived promptly and executed a daring operation to apprehend Navjeet, fearing the emergence of an angry mob. Despite immediate medical attention, Natarajan succumbed to his injuries, while Sindhu is currently in critical condition at a private hospital in Mavelikkara.

Both victims suffered extensive injuries; Natarajan had deep lacerations throughout his body, including severe wounds to his eyes and severed fingers, while Sindhu's fingers were also deeply injured.

Sources indicate that the family was financially stable, with Natarajan managing both household and business finances. Neighbors speculate that ongoing disputes over financial matters, combined with Navjeet's alleged alcohol and drug use on the day of the attack, may have triggered this violent outburst.

This incident occurred as Navjeet’s wife, Navya, was preparing for hospitalization for childbirth. Navjeet has two siblings, both practicing Ayurveda doctors, who were absent during the incident.

Authorities are currently probing the underlying motives, considering potential long-standing family conflicts and substance abuse that may have led to this brutal act. The community is in shock, describing this as one of the most horrifying family tragedies witnessed in recent years.

Local police have confirmed that Navjeet is in custody, and investigations are ongoing.
