Stalin Critiques NDA Leadership, Positions 2026 Elections as 'Tamil Nadu vs Delhi'
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Chennai, March 2 (NationPress) In a pointed critique of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu, DMK President and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin raised concerns about the leadership clarity within the opposition coalition, questioning whether its members even recognize who leads the alliance in the state.
Commenting on the NDA's public gathering in Madurai on Sunday, Stalin highlighted what he termed a messaging inconsistency.
While AIADMK General Secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami claimed the alliance was under his party's leadership and expressed confidence in winning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke about establishing an "NDA government" in Tamil Nadu.
Stalin remarked, "The constituents themselves are not sure who is heading the alliance," implying a noticeable disunity within the opposition bloc.
Reaffirming his previous statement that the upcoming Assembly election would be a showdown between "Tamil Nadu and the NDA," the Chief Minister noted that recent visits by Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah only strengthened his argument.
He stated, "Many questioned me when I characterized it as Tamil Nadu versus the NDA. However, their visits to the State only validate my claims," he asserted.
Positioning the political contest as one between "regional self-respect and central dominance," Stalin declared the election to be a battle between "Team Tamil Nadu and Team Delhi."
He expressed assurance that the citizens of the state would support his administration.
"Tamil Nadu will triumph in this electoral battle," he confidently proclaimed.
When asked about former political adversaries joining the DMK-led coalition and whether this posed a challenge, Stalin dismissed the idea of opportunism.
"This is not simply a numbers game. It’s an alliance built on principles," he emphasized, stating that ideological alignment, rather than mere numbers, defines his coalition.
Regarding Modi's alleged comments in Madurai that the DMK's aspirations of holding power would remain illusory, Stalin responded that the BJP's ambitions in Tamil Nadu have consistently failed.
"Modi has been envisioning a BJP government here. But that dream has only remained an illusion," he added, affirming that the people of Tamil Nadu would once again make their verdict known decisively.
