Chennai, Jan 28 (NationPress) The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M.K. Stalin, is set to inaugurate a memorial dedicated to 21 social justice activists who tragically lost their lives during the police firing amidst the Vanniyar reservation agitation in September 1987.

Constructed at a total expenditure of ₹5.70 crore, this memorial located in Vazhudhareddi, Villupuram, stands as a solemn tribute to these brave activists.

CM Stalin's visit to Villupuram district spans two days and forms part of his broader tour across the state to assess various government initiatives.

In addition, he will unveil a memorial hall honoring former minister A. Govindasamy, who played a significant role in the administrations of renowned Dravidian leaders C.N. Annadurai and M. Karunanidhi. This hall, also situated in Vazhudhareddi, has been completed at a cost of ₹4 crore.

Furthermore, CM Stalin will inaugurate the Ellis Chatram dam, built over the Thenpennai River at Enathimangalam.

During the roadshow in Tindivanam, CM Stalin engaged with the citizens, receiving petitions and greeting attendees as he walked approximately one kilometer, enjoying traditional art performances like karakattam.

In a surprise action, he visited a primary health center in Olakur, near Tindivanam, where he, along with District Collector C. Palani, assessed the fever and post-operative wards, checked the stock of medicines, and interacted with patients to ensure the quality of care.

He instructed health officials to guarantee the prompt distribution of aid under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Security.

Tamil Nadu's Minister for Forests, K. Ponmudy, and District Collector C. Palani, conducted a review of security measures within the district.

Since initiating district visits to oversee the implementation of state government schemes on November 5, starting with Coimbatore, CM Stalin has expressed his commitment to conducting inspections throughout the state to monitor the effectiveness of welfare programs.

Since taking office in May 2021, CM Stalin's administration has rolled out numerous welfare initiatives aimed at uplifting marginalized communities.

In the state legislative assembly, it was reported that ₹6,569.75 crore has been allocated through various welfare schemes across Tamil Nadu since the DMK government took charge.
