Is Sunetra Pawar the New Guardian Minister for Pune and Beed?
Synopsis
Key Takeaways
Mumbai, Feb 3 (NationPress) Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Sunetra Pawar has been designated as the new Guardian Minister for the districts of Pune and Beed as of Tuesday. This appointment was formalized through an official government resolution issued by the General Administration Department. The late Ajit Pawar, who previously held this position, was a prominent figure in the region.
After the tragic passing of Ajit Pawar in a recent air crash, his wife, Sunetra Pawar, took on the role, taking an oath as Deputy Chief Minister. She has been assigned the departments of excise, sports and youth welfare, and minority welfare, which were previously overseen by her late husband, with the exception of the finance and planning departments now managed by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The swearing-in ceremony occurred on Saturday, just four days after Ajit Pawar's unfortunate demise. While some expressed concern over the swift nature of the ceremony, many others supported the decision. NCP Working President Praful Patel provided clarification, explaining that Sunetra took the oath on the fourth day following the completion of all post-death rituals.
In addition, several party legislators and heads of 30 cells have advocated for Sunetra Pawar to become the National President of the NCP. Her late husband was known for his active involvement in various development initiatives in Pune, and Sunetra Pawar is now tasked with overseeing the continuation and initiation of these projects.
Ajit Pawar also took charge as the Guardian Minister for Beed after Dhananjay Munde stepped down due to a controversy related to the murder of Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh. During his brief tenure, Ajit focused on enhancing law and order and advancing development projects in Beed.
As the newly appointed Guardian Minister for Pune, Sunetra Pawar will need to ensure that ongoing projects are completed efficiently and propose new initiatives for the district's future.
