Mumbai, Jan 31 (NationPress) Following her oath-taking ceremony as the first female Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Sunetra Pawar expressed her gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his encouraging words.
“Your blessings serve as a great source of inspiration for me. As I embark on this new role dedicated to serving Maharashtra, your encouraging message has bolstered my resolve to work diligently for the public good. I am deeply grateful for your trust,” she stated.
In a heartfelt tribute to her late husband and former Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, Sunetra Pawar remarked on the principles he instilled, stating, “Respected Ajitdada taught us to dedicate our lives to farmers, laborers, women, youth, and the marginalized. Today, as I embrace the responsibilities of my new position, I carry forward his legacy with unwavering loyalty to the ideals of Shiv-Shahu-Phule-Ambedkar. I feel truly honored.”
She added, “Although the sudden loss of Dada has left me heartbroken, I find strength in the lessons he imparted—dedication, resilience, and a deep connection with the people. I am committed to tirelessly working towards a just, equitable, and developed Maharashtra, in line with his vision. In these challenging times, the love and support from the people of Maharashtra are my true strength. With your trust illuminating Dada's ideals, I will continue to move forward with renewed hope.”
Earlier, she was sworn in during a straightforward ceremony at Lok Bhavan, where Governor Acharya Devvrat administered the oath of office.
Noteworthy attendees at the swearing-in included Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, along with various ministers and legislators. Sunetra Pawar took her oath with utmost seriousness.
Before her inauguration, she was unanimously elected as the NCP Legislature Party leader, with her nomination proposed by party veteran Chhagan Bhujbal and seconded by Dilip Walse Patil and several other legislators.
The meeting occurred after Sunetra Pawar, still reeling from the sudden and tragic loss of her husband in a plane crash on Wednesday in Baramati, agreed to assume the role of legislature party leader.
