Mumbai, March 23 (NationPress) Renowned Bollywood actor Sunny Deol recently posted a touching and rare photograph with his beloved ‘Maa’ Prakash Kaur following the passing of his iconic father, Dharmendra.

Sunny shared this intimate moment on Instagram, showcasing a heartwarming image of the mother-son pair. The picture captures Sunny closely leaning towards his mother, both wearing gentle smiles as they gaze into the distance.

He captioned the post simply with: “MAA” accompanied by multiple red heart emojis.

Prakash Kaur, the first spouse of the late Dharmendra, wedded him in 1954, before his illustrious film career took off. Together, they raised their sons, actors Sunny and Bobby Deol, along with their daughters, Vijeta and Ajeeta.

On the cinematic front, Sunny's most recent project was in the film Border 2, directed by Anurag Singh. This standalone sequel to J. P. Dutta's famed 1997 movie, Border, is set during the India-Pakistan war of 1971. It delves into a multi-faceted war drama, broadening its predecessor's scope by depicting the collaborative efforts of the Indian Armed Forces—Army, Air Force, and Navy.

The film also features a stellar cast including Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, Ahan Shetty, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh.

Next, he will appear in Gabru, which was initially slated for an OTT release. However, following positive test screenings, the filmmakers opted for a theatrical release instead.

Gabru is penned and directed by Shashank Udapurkar, produced by Om Chhangani and Vishal Rana, and stars Simran Bagga and Prit Kamani in pivotal roles. The music is orchestrated by Mithoon, with lyrics contributed by Sayeed Quadri, along with Satinder Sartaaj and Anurag Saikia.

This film is characterized as a drama that explores themes of bravery, conscience, identity, and resilience. It emphasizes a character-driven narrative that highlights moral fortitude and emotional conflict rather than traditional action sequences. The storyline revolves around a protagonist facing personal and societal hurdles, encapsulating notions of empathy and inner strength.

Sunny Deol announced Gabru on October 19, 2025, coinciding with his 68th birthday, unveiling the film's first look poster on social media.

He is also involved in a period drama titled Lahore 1947, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. This film, set against the tumultuous backdrop of India’s partition in 1947, features a cast that includes Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, and Abhimanyu Singh. It is based on Asghar Wajahat's play, Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai.
