For the Congress-led UDF, Suresh represents more than just a potential candidate. He is perceived as a vital link to the emotional and ideological base that Achuthanandan has nurtured over many years.

Very few leaders in Kerala's Left movement enjoyed the moral authority and grassroots affection that V. S. Achuthanandan commanded. Capitalizing on that enduring goodwill in Malampuzha — his political stronghold — could be a strategic move.

The Congress strategy seems straightforward. Suresh's long tenure as Achuthanandan's personal assistant grants him credibility among traditional Left supporters who may feel distanced from the current CPI(M) leadership.
