Patna, June 29 (NationPress) The Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav faced a harrowing moment on Sunday when a drone collided with a podium during his speech at a rally in Patna.
While addressing the 'Save Waqf - Save Constitution' conference at Gandhi Maidan, Tejashwi accused the BJP of plotting to undermine the voting rights of marginalized groups, including the poor, backward classes, Dalits, tribal communities, and minorities in Bihar.
He stated, “The BJP aims to erase the names of the underprivileged from the voter list.”
Tejashwi urged Bihar's residents to stay alert during the ongoing voter list revision, highlighting the Election Commission's recent announcement to compile a new list of 8 crore voters within 25 days.
“Make sure no one’s name is omitted, or they will cut off your pensions, rations, scholarships, and various welfare benefits,” Tejashwi warned the attendees.
The leader underscored the collective sacrifices made by Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, and Christians in the nation's freedom struggle, asserting that India is a shared homeland for all communities, not just a single party or family.
“We must unite to protect Waqf, uphold our customs, and defend our voting rights against the BJP's conspiracies,” he declared.
The rally was graced by the presence of Congress leader Salman Khurshid and other senior figures from the INDIA coalition.
Amid his speech, Tejashwi narrowly avoided injury when a drone, hired for event coverage, unexpectedly crashed into the podium.
As the drone neared him, he instinctively ducked, narrowly escaping direct impact before it fell onto the stage, creating a moment of confusion.
Security personnel promptly secured the drone, allowing the rally to continue after a brief disruption.
This incident marks the second time Tejashwi has narrowly escaped a mishap; previously, a glass door shattered due to crowd pressure following the conclusion of the student-youth RJD dialogue program at Bapu Auditorium, Patna.
