Hyderabad, Oct 8 (NationPress) The esteemed Welfare Gurukul Educational Institutions in Telangana, once celebrated as a benchmark for educational excellence nationwide, are now at risk of shutting down due to unpaid building rents, as stated by K.T. Rama Rao, the working president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), on Wednesday.
KTR launched a fierce critique against Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, accusing him of incompetence in governance.
In a statement, he expressed that the impending closure of Gurukul schools, which have transformed the lives of countless underprivileged students, marks a dark chapter in Telangana's educational landscape.
The BRS leader pointed fingers at the Chief Minister, who also oversees the Education portfolio, for his gross negligence, highlighting that rental dues have been outstanding for nearly a year. KTR claimed that Revanth Reddy’s inaction is indicative of a larger scheme to dismantle the welfare model established by former CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) and to undermine KCR’s legacy.
“While the CM sits on immense wealth, the buildings that harbor the aspirations of impoverished students are being locked. This reflects not just incompetence but a calculated cruelty,” KTR stated. He cautioned that the government’s inability to settle even basic obligations signifies a breakdown of financial and administrative responsibility.
KTR also condemned the Congress government for simultaneously delaying fee reimbursements, throwing thousands of students into disarray. “Revanth Reddy is not merely depleting the treasury; he’s jeopardizing the future of our youth,” he asserted.
He reminded everyone that Telangana’s Gurukul system, which provides world-class, residential education to Backward Classes, SC, ST, minority, and economically disadvantaged upper-caste students, was a groundbreaking initiative that fostered equality and empowerment. “If the Congress government attempts to dismantle this inclusive system, the BRS will not remain silent,” KTR warned.
He called for the immediate release of all outstanding rent payments to protect students' education and dignity. “Should the Congress persist with this anti-student stance and permit Gurukul schools to close, we will organize a statewide movement with students and parents to hold this arrogant government accountable,” declared the BRS leader.
KTR accused Revanth Reddy of leading Telangana into a debt of Rs 2.5 lakh crore within two years while failing to address even basic rent obligations, demanding full transparency on the misallocation of public funds. “The people of Telangana will soon hold him responsible for this betrayal,” he concluded.
