Gurugram, May 14 (NationPress) - The police's crime branch in Gurugram has apprehended three individuals linked to the notorious 'Thak-Thak' gang, implicated in numerous thefts across both Delhi and Gurugram.
The suspects have been named as Surya Swamy, Romit (alias Johnny), and Karan, all hailing from Ambedkar Nagar, Delhi.
On April 30, a complaint was lodged at the DLF Phase-1 police station in Gurugram concerning an incident on April 29/30, where an unidentified individual smashed the glass of a parked vehicle and made away with a laptop, purse, and other valuables.
This prompted the filing of a case under applicable statutes at the DLF Phase-1 police station.
A dedicated team from the Crime Branch Sector-43 swiftly acted on the complaint, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
According to police reports, Surya Swamy was apprehended in Gurugram on May 8, while Karan was caught in Aya Nagar, Delhi, on May 9. The police presented the suspects in court, where they were remanded to five days of police custody.
During interrogations, the individuals confessed to being involved in 21 prior thefts, all executed by breaking the windows of vehicles in both Gurugram and Delhi.
Upon reviewing their criminal histories, authorities found that Surya Swamy had two prior theft cases registered against him in Delhi.
The suspects are known as active members of the 'Thak-Thak' gang, which strategically surveys parked vehicles in isolated locations before using a slingshot to shatter windows and steal items such as bags, laptops, cash, and other valuables, according to a spokesperson from the Gurugram Police.
The police have successfully recovered a scooter, a slingshot, iron projectiles for the slingshot, a laptop charger, and six credit and debit cards from the suspects' possession.
