Key Takeaways
Bengaluru, February 28 (NationPress) - Tragically, three individuals lost their lives due to suspected suffocation while attempting to clean a water sump at a private residence located in Immadihalli, within the Whitefield area on Saturday, according to police reports.
This unfortunate event transpired within the jurisdiction of the Whitefield Police Station.
The victims have been identified as Munishamappa, aged 67, the homeowner; Rudhra Kumar, 40, a plumber; and Vishwanath Achari, 24, a delivery executive.
As per police accounts, the incident occurred near Immadihalli Temple Circle, situated behind the Panchamuki Anjaneya Temple. Munishamappa had entered the water sump at his residence for cleaning, reportedly utilizing chemical agents during the process.
During this cleaning operation, he apparently suffered from breathing problems due to suspected toxic fumes and collapsed within the sump.
Upon noticing Munishamappa's prolonged absence, Rudhra Kumar entered the sump to check on him and also succumbed to the fumes. Subsequently, Vishwanath Achari, who arrived to inquire about the situation, followed suit and lost consciousness under similar circumstances.
Both Munishamappa and Rudhra Kumar were hurried to Manipal Hospital in Whitefield, while Vishwanath Achari was taken to Vydehi Hospital. Unfortunately, all three were pronounced dead upon arrival.
The bodies have now been transferred to Vydehi Hospital for necessary post-mortem examinations and subsequent legal procedures.
Officials from the police department visited the scene and have initiated a case. Preliminary investigations suggest that the fatalities were the result of suffocation caused by inhaling toxic fumes within the sump. Further inquiries are ongoing.
In a related incident earlier this month, authorities discovered a 14-year-old boy who had gone missing; he was found dead inside a pipeline chamber belonging to the Bengaluru Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) on February 3, leading to a case of negligence against BWSSB officials.
Additionally, on February 15, a three-year-old boy tragically drowned in an artificial pond during a maternity photoshoot at a studio located on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The child had accompanied his mother to the studio in Giddenahalli near Madanayakanahalli. While the mother was engaged in the photoshoot, the child wandered off unnoticed and was later found in the pond constructed for photography.
