Bhopal, April 7 (NationPress) The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Meteorological Centre Bhopal, has released a forecast indicating that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and strong winds are expected in isolated regions of various districts in Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday.
The latest weather report highlights that rain has been recorded at scattered locations in the Gwalior and Jabalpur divisions over the previous 24 hours, while most areas of the state remained predominantly dry.
Maximum temperatures have dropped below normal by 3.2 to 3.6 degrees Celsius across many divisions, with the highest temperature reaching 37.8 degrees Celsius in Narmadapuram. Meanwhile, the lowest temperature recorded was 14.2 degrees Celsius in Pachmarhi.
Potential rainfall or thundershowers with lightning are anticipated in districts such as Vidisha, Rajgarh, Ratlam, Agar, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Guna, Ashoknagar, Shivpuri, Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, Morena, Sheopur, Singrauli, Sidhi, Rewa, Mauganj, Satna, Panna, Damoh, Sagar, Chhatarpur, Tikamgarh, and Niwari. The remaining districts are expected to stay dry.
In the regions of Gwalior, Datia, Bhind, and Morena, there is also a chance of experiencing a hailstorm along with the thunderstorms, lightning, and intense gusty winds.
A senior official from the IMD remarked, “Isolated thunderstorms featuring lightning and gusty winds are likely today. Hail could occur in certain northern and western districts. It is crucial for individuals to refrain from venturing outside during severe weather and to adopt necessary precautions. Please remain indoors during thunderstorms, keep all windows and doors shut, and avoid unnecessary travel.”
They also recommended avoiding sheltering under trees or near electrical poles, unplugging electrical devices, and staying clear of metallic objects. Farmers are advised against irrigation, the application of fertilizers or pesticides, and should provide adequate support for vegetable crops.
“Ensure livestock is kept in safe shelters, manage proper drainage in fields, and cover any harvested produce,” they advised.
Experts from the IMD noted that a new Western Disturbance is forecasted to impact the Western Himalayan region from April 11, which may lead to further changes in weather conditions.
