Key Takeaways
Bhopal, March 20 (NationPress) On Friday, Madhya Pradesh experienced scattered yet heavy rainfall, leading to thunderstorms and lightning across numerous districts.
The India Meteorological Department's Meteorological Centre in Bhopal confirmed that both the eastern and western regions of the state received moderate to heavy showers, providing a temporary respite from the escalating heat.
A yellow alert has been issued by the IMD for thunderstorms, which may include lightning and gusty winds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h in isolated to scattered areas across divisions such as Bhopal, Indore, Jabalpur, Sagar, Rewa, and Gwalior. Light to moderate rainfall is expected in several locations, with potential isolated heavy spells.
The five-day weather forecast (March 19-23) indicates ongoing rainfall activity, especially in central and eastern Madhya Pradesh, with green and yellow patches on the map signaling rain in isolated to scattered areas.
Farmers are advised to delay outdoor tasks, secure their livestock, and refrain from standing beneath trees during thunderstorms.
The bulletin also stated that there will be no significant temperature changes in the upcoming days, with maximum temperatures projected to stay between 35-39 degrees Celsius and minimums between 18-26 degrees across most districts.
Residents observed sudden dark clouds, thunder, and brief heavy downpours that caused minor waterlogging in low-lying areas and disrupted traffic on highways.
While the rainfall provided relief from the early summer heat, authorities have cautioned against slippery roads and lightning hazards.
The Meteorological Centre in Bhopal will continue to monitor the weather system and provide timely updates. Citizens are urged to stay tuned to official alerts for their safety.
