Nainital, Nov 23 (NationPress) Three educators, including the leader of the Government Teachers' Union of Haldwani Block, tragically lost their lives when their vehicle veered out of control and plunged approximately 60 metres into the Shipra River in the Ratighat region along the Almora-Haldwani highway in Uttarakhand's Nainital district, as reported by police on Sunday.
One teacher who survived the terrible incident received initial treatment at CHC Khairna before being transferred to Haldwani in a critical state, officials stated.
As per police reports, four teachers, including 50-year-old Sanjay Singh Bisht and Manoj Kumar, the Block President of the Government Teachers' Union in Haldwani, were en route to a wedding ceremony on Saturday.
The accident occurred at around 7 p.m. on Saturday when the car lost its balance on a stretch near Ratighat, descending about 60 metres into the river.
A young bystander who witnessed the crash alerted Tara Singh Bisht, a local resident, who quickly informed others. Tara Singh and BJP Mandal President Neeraj Bisht were among the first responders at the scene, according to officials.
Authorities and SDRF teams promptly arrived at the accident site. Rescuers, with the help of local residents, managed to extricate Sanjay and Manoj from the wreckage and transported them to Garampani CHC.
Unfortunately, Sanjay succumbed to his injuries while receiving treatment, and Manoj was referred to Haldwani for further medical attention.
