Tragic Bus Accident in Nainital Claims Three Lives, Multiple Injuries Reported

Nainital, Dec 25 (NationPress) In a heartbreaking incident, three individuals have lost their lives and numerous others have been injured after a bus transporting 27 passengers fell into a 1,500-feet-deep gorge on the Bhimtal-Ranibagh road in Uttarakhand's Nainital district on Wednesday.
The bus was making its way from Almora to Haldwani when the unfortunate event took place on the Ranibagh road.
Rescue efforts commenced promptly, involving the police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the fire department, with significant support from local residents. Nonetheless, the challenging steep terrain has complicated rescue operations.
Rescuers and locals utilized ropes to assist the injured, carrying them on their shoulders to safer areas.
The injured were administered first aid before being transported to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bhimtal. A total of fifteen ambulances were dispatched to Haldwani for additional medical care.
Currently, 24 passengers have been rescued, with ongoing operations to ensure no one is left behind.
Video footage of the incident depicts the bus severely damaged upon impact.
Uttarakhand's Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed sorrow over the incident and instructed the local administration to ensure immediate relief and rescue efforts.
On the social media platform X, Chief Minister Dhami remarked, "The news of the bus accident near Bhimtal is deeply saddening. The local administration has been ordered to execute immediate relief and rescue operations. I pray to Baba Kedar for the safety of all travelers."
Further updates regarding the incident and the status of the injured individuals are anticipated as rescue operations continue.
In a similar incident last month, at least 20 passengers perished when their bus veered off the road and plunged into a 200-metre-deep gorge in Almora district, tragically including several children among the victims.
That bus was reportedly overloaded while transporting passengers from Garhwal to Kumaon at the time of the accident.
