Earlier, the BSF had announced that a full honors wreath-laying ceremony would take place on May 11 at the headquarters in Paloura, Jammu.
In a statement released Saturday night, the BSF remarked, "The DG BSF and personnel salute the ultimate sacrifice made by BSF Sub-Inspector Md Imteyaz while serving the nation on May 10. This occurred during cross-border firing by Pakistan along the International Boundary in the R S Pura region. The Prahari Pariwar stands united with the grieving family during this difficult time."
Officials reported that Sub-Inspector Imteyaz was killed and seven others injured in the Pakistani attack along the International Border in Jammu on Saturday.
The BSF is responsible for safeguarding a frontline exceeding 2,000 kilometers between India and Pakistan.
Despite a ceasefire agreement, with Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri announcing that military operations would halt at 5 p.m. on Saturday, India accused Pakistan of violating this understanding. The Indian Army is currently responding to border intrusions.
During a special briefing, Foreign Secretary Misri stated that these actions represent a breach of the earlier agreement, prompting India to take these violations seriously.
India urged Pakistan to appropriately address these breaches and handle the situation responsibly.
He further emphasized that India's Armed Forces have received directives to respond decisively to any recurrence of border violations along the International Border and the Line of Control.
"Indian soldiers are engaging in retaliatory actions against these border incursions. Such aggression is utterly condemnable, and Pakistan bears the responsibility for it. We believe Pakistan must grasp the seriousness of the situation and act swiftly to cease this aggression," Foreign Secretary Misri stated.
The Army is closely monitoring the situation and has been instructed to employ robust measures against any incursions.
