While distributing appointment letters to 184 newly appointed junior engineers in the Public Works Department (PWD), the Chief Minister emphasized that the current BJP administration is committed to fulfilling the objectives outlined by the Prime Minister.
“Recently, during an official event in Odisha, Prime Minister Modi spoke about the progress in Tripura and encouraged people to visit the state. A few days prior, the Home Minister, in a meeting in Kerala, also highlighted the advancements in Tripura,” stated CM Saha.
He mentioned that under the Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region (PM-DevINE), ₹122 crore has been allocated to establish a dedicated drug de-addiction center at Bishramganj in the Sepahijala district and ₹202 crore for the dental college in the state.
“Tripura ranks second in the northeastern region for Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) after Assam and also stands second in per capita income after Sikkim. The state is blessed with immense untapped natural resources and stunning environmental beauty, which our government aims to harness effectively for the benefit of the state,” the Chief Minister noted.
He revealed that ₹7,000 crore has been earmarked in the current fiscal year (2025-26) budget for infrastructure enhancements, as the state government aspires to create world-class infrastructure in Tripura.
Due to the extended monsoon season, which limits fieldwork to just four months annually, CM Saha, who also oversees the PWD portfolio, instructed government officials to adapt accordingly.
The Chief Minister indicated that Prime Minister Modi has urged the development of a world-class tourism destination in Tripura to attract visitors from both within the country and abroad.
In the past seven years, the government has successfully provided regular employment to 19,742 unemployed youth while also engaging 7,000 to 8,000 individuals as contractual staff and through outsourcing.
“I recently laid the foundation for a significant ₹97.70 crore initiative to construct a 51-Shakti Peethas Park at Banduar in the southern Gomati district to promote our spiritual heritage,” he stated.
The park will feature replicas of the 51 Shakti Peethas located across Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and various parts of India.
Spanning 15 acres, the 51-Shakti Peethas Park will include a digital museum, an amphitheater, a sky bridge, ample vehicle parking, and one of the tallest statues of Nataraj.
Ministers including Ratan Lal Nath (Power and Agriculture), Pranajit Singha Roy (Finance), Kiran Gitte (PWD Secretary), and Pradeep Kumar Chakravarty (Information and Cultural Affairs Department Secretary) were also present at the event.
