During the Assembly discussion on the proposed budget, Saha emphasized that it was presented on March 16, 2026, during the ninth session of the Assembly.
“I stand firmly behind this budget. It's refreshing to see such a meticulously crafted financial plan after a long period. Upholding financial discipline is vital in budget planning. Given Tripura's modest size, achieving a balanced budget while catering to various needs is indeed a tough challenge. I extend my gratitude to the Finance Minister for delivering an exceptional and forward-thinking budget, aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India,” he remarked.
Furthermore, Saha pointed out that the state budget is synchronized with the Union Budget and embodies the larger aspiration of self-reliance. “The theme of self-reliance is distinctly evident in this budget, intended to support all societal groups, including women, students, youth, tribals, Scheduled Castes, OBCs, minorities, employees, and pensioners. The Finance Minister has carefully considered the needs of each demographic in preparing this budget,” he stated.
Highlighting the national economic trajectory, the Chief Minister noted that under Modi's stewardship, India's economy has advanced from the 11th to the 4th rank globally and is on track to become the third-largest economy by 2030.
He added that the nation's prosperity will directly enhance the progress of states like Tripura, and this budget has been crafted with that aim.
“The North Eastern states are poised to gain significantly from this year’s Union Budget. Previously, this region was overlooked, but now the expectations and aspirations of the populace are being prioritized. The people's trust in the Prime Minister is evident, reflected in the establishment of the BJP-led government in Tripura in both 2018 and 2023. Our administration remains committed to transparency and comprehensive development,” he noted.
The Chief Minister also stressed the government's relentless efforts to deliver tangible results. “We are working diligently from dawn till dusk, and the fruits of these labors will soon be apparent,” he added.
Continuing with the discussion, Saha mentioned that the government is progressing with the vision of sustainable development and a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
“The public has confidence in both the Prime Minister and the state government. Thus, I offer my full support to this year’s budget. Special focus has been placed on the education sector, as educational development is essential for the state’s overall advancement. Notably, no new taxes have been imposed in this budget,” he added.
He also revealed that the total budget allocation for the fiscal year 2026–27 is set at Rs 34,212.31 crore, reflecting a 5.52 percent increase over the projected budget for 2025-26.
