Agartala, Dec 12 (NationPress) - Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Friday that over 70% of the directives issued by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the recent All India Conference of Directors General and Inspectors General of Police (DGsP/IGsP) in Raipur have already been put into action in the state to enhance internal security preparedness.
After attending a state-level review meeting concerning the outcomes of the DGsP/IGsP Conference-2025, which followed the 60th All India Conference held in the capital of Chhattisgarh on November 29-30, CM Saha, who also manages the Home Department, spoke to the media.
Key figures like Prime Minister Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval participated in the three-day national conference where significant discussions revolved around internal security, emerging threats, and challenges.
During the gathering, Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Shah, and senior police officials deliberated on national issues, as well as specific concerns for certain states. With internal security facing a multitude of threats and crime evolving, they discussed how protests are financed by certain NGOs and foreign entities, alongside logistics support.
CM Saha highlighted that the police force is now tasked with an array of responsibilities beyond merely preventing crime, including disaster response, public safety, and addressing various societal concerns.
In light of geopolitical changes, CM Saha remarked: "Post Operation Sindoor, various foreign nations expressed interest, but External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made it clear that India seeks partners, not just advice. Before 2014, the nation was unstable, surrounded by challenges posed by Pakistan and China. Attempts were made to weaken India, resulting in the loss of many BSF, CRPF, and police lives. This must not persist."
He emphasized that Tripura has already acted upon over 70% of the recommendations made by PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah during last month's conference.
"We are on the right path, and this has been established. However, we must fortify it further," he stated.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister urged senior officials to align with PM Modi's vision of a New India and work towards creating a New Tripura.
He instructed all police officials to thoroughly familiarize themselves with and adhere to the guidelines set forth by the Prime Minister.
CM Saha stressed that reinforcing democracy leads to improved law and order, urging the police to remain people-oriented.
"The uniform is a symbol of honor, and police officials should wear it with pride. Their demeanor and interactions must also be empathetic and community-friendly," he stated.
He further noted that he seldom interferes with police operations and that the state government maintains this stance, which he described as a golden opportunity for the Tripura Police to transform the state into a model of effective policing and law enforcement.
The conference held at Pragna Bhavan was attended by Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of Police Anurag, and other senior officials.
