Agartala, Aug 12 (NationPress) Tripura, recognized as a power-surplus state, is on the verge of entering a new chapter in energy production with the forthcoming establishment of a 120 MW Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) facility at Rokhia in the Sepahijala district.
A high-ranking official from the Tripura State Electricity Corporation stated that the Tripura Power Generation Limited (TPGL) has initiated this power project, which will be the first of its kind in India, marking a significant landmark in the nation’s energy sector.
This project, backed by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), aims to boost electricity generation while minimizing fuel gas consumption, utilizing eco-friendly technology to ensure affordable energy for consumers, according to the official.
Following a global e-tendering process, a Hyderabad-based firm was awarded the contract with the lowest bid of Rs 1,119.30 crore (excluding GST).
TPGL and the Hyderabad company have finalized a contract for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the project.
The official from TSECL mentioned that the plant will incorporate two gas turbines, two Heat Recovery Steam Generators (HRSGs), and one Steam Turbine.
These turbines are lauded for their high efficiency and advanced start-stop capabilities, being installed for the first time in any Indian power plant.
On August 11, a six-member team from the Hyderabad company visited the Rokhia project site, alongside project advocates and TPGL corporate officials.
Once operational, the Rokhia CCGT power plant will set a pioneering standard in India’s energy technology landscape.
