Nath highlighted that the inaugural Promo Fest took place in 2024 to exhibit Tripura's tourism potential to the global audience.
"This year, similar to the previous one, Unity Promo Fest 2025 is being held on a grander scale across six tourist sites, including Narikelkunja, Belonia, Udaipur, Jampui Hill, and Neermahal. The event will culminate in a spectacular cultural showcase at the Swami Vivekananda Stadium in Agartala, featuring performances by renowned artists from across the country," the Minister remarked.
He further mentioned that the Promo Fest is a strategic initiative to develop the tourism industry, which will enhance employment and livelihood opportunities in the region.
Nath emphasized that tourism has evolved beyond mere entertainment; it is now viewed as a significant contributor to revenue and foreign exchange.
"Tourism significantly impacts the nation's economic advancement and fosters cultural exchange and mutual understanding," he pointed out.
The core aim of the Promo Fest is to highlight the flourishing tourism sector of Tripura to both domestic and international tourists, nurture relationships between nations and communities, promote self-sufficiency through homestay registrations, and support economic growth alongside cultural appreciation.
According to Minister Nath, the proactive measures from the Tourism Department have led to a consistent increase in both domestic and foreign tourist arrivals, revenue generation, and job creation.
In the 2016-2017 period, Tripura saw 380,578 domestic and 39,229 foreign tourists, totaling 419,807.
By the 2024-2025 timeframe, tourist numbers surged to 627,705 domestic and 79,468 foreign visitors, totaling 707,173.
He noted that numerous major tourist attractions in the state have been renovated.
"Renovation work has been completed at the Tripura Sundari Temple, one of the 51 Hindu Shakti Peethas, along with improvements to Neermahal, Dambur, Chobimura, and other sites."
Minister Nath also inaugurated the newly refurbished Eden Tourist Lodge at Vanghmun in Jampui Hills, located near the Mizoram border.
Tourism and Transport Minister Sushanta Choudhury, alongside Industry and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma, were present at the Vanghmun Playground event in Jampui Hills.
