Washington, Feb 4 (NationPress) President Donald Trump stated that the United States is currently engaged in negotiations with Iran, hinting that these discussions encompass more than one meeting. He also expressed his desire for Vladimir Putin of Russia to conclude the ongoing war in Ukraine.

When asked during a White House event on Tuesday (local time) if talks with Iran were taking place this week, Trump affirmed, “Yeah.”

Pressed for details on the meeting locations and the US's expectations from Iran, he remarked, “They’re all over, but they are negotiating.” He further added, “They’d like to do something, and we’ll see if something is going to be done.”

Trump referenced previous US actions while emphasizing the stakes for Tehran. “They had a chance to do something a while ago, and it didn’t work out, and we did Midnight Hammer,” he noted. “I don’t think they want that happening again, but they would like to negotiate.”

He confirmed that the discussions are ongoing.

“We are negotiating with them right now,” Trump stated. When asked about the meeting locations again, he replied, “I can’t tell you that.” He added, “There really is more than one meeting.”

Regarding the situation in Ukraine, Trump highlighted a brief lull in attacks due to harsh weather conditions, stating that strikes resumed after the pause.

“It was Sunday. It was Sunday to Sunday, and it opened up, and he hit him hard last night,” Trump said, referring to the renewed assaults. He remarked, “No, he agreed. He kept his word on that.”

Trump indicated that Putin seeks a broader resolution to the conflict. “I would have liked him -- I want him to end the war,” he said. “I spoke to him. I want him to end the war.”

The President made these comments during a bill-signing ceremony, fielding questions from reporters after addressing domestic legislation and other issues.

Trump also answered inquiries about his earlier meeting with Gustavo Petro, describing it as positive and indicating that they discussed counter-narcotics initiatives and sanctions.

“Yeah, we did. We worked on it, and we got along very well,” Trump confirmed. “We are; we’re working on that, and we’re working on some other things too, including sanctions.”
