Washington, March 5 (NationPress) President Donald Trump has announced a forward-thinking initiative designed to accelerate the growth of artificial intelligence across the United States while ensuring that household electricity costs remain stable. This initiative, referred to by the White House as the “Ratepayer Protection Pledge,” brings together some of the largest tech giants worldwide.

During a roundtable discussion at the White House with leaders from major tech companies on Wednesday (local time), Trump stated that this agreement would enable firms operating extensive AI data centers to either produce or fund their own electricity instead of depending on current power grids.

“We are witnessing thrilling developments,” Trump remarked during the event.

Under this pledge, technology powerhouses such as Google, Meta, Amazon Web Services, OpenAI, and Oracle have committed to financing the energy generation necessary for their growing AI operations.

“With this new agreement, major tech firms will take full responsibility for the costs associated with the increased electricity production needed for AI data centers,” Trump highlighted.

He emphasized that this arrangement would safeguard ordinary Americans from rising electricity expenses as the tech industry continues to flourish.

“This means that tech companies and their data centers will secure the electricity they require without imposing additional costs on consumers,” he explained.

Trump added that companies will be responsible for developing new energy capacity to support their projects.

“Construct your own power plants,” he encouraged.

U.S. Energy Secretary Chris Wright underscored the importance of this policy for maintaining America’s edge in technology.

“The nation that leads in AI will ultimately be the military superpower,” Wright stated.

Google’s President Ruth Porat announced that the company is expanding its electricity generation capacity in conjunction with its data center investments.

“In Texas alone, we have arranged to add over 7800MW of net new energy production and capacity to the grid,” Porat confirmed.

Meta executive Dina Powell McCormick stated that the company is committed to fully covering the energy costs associated with its facilities.

“Our goal is to entirely fund the energy we utilize in our data centers,” she stated.

She also noted that the company’s investments have already contributed to reducing energy costs in various communities.

“In Louisiana… we have successfully lowered costs for many energy consumers, saving an estimated $650 million over 15 years,” she reported.

Trump asserted that this policy will ensure the United States remains at the forefront of emerging technologies.

“The United States is significantly leading the way in AI,” he declared. “We are ahead of China and everyone else by a wide margin.”

The swift advancement of artificial intelligence has resulted in a dramatic increase in demand for data centers, which require substantial amounts of electricity to operate advanced computing systems.

Governments globally are increasingly exploring ways to enhance power generation and grid capacity to support AI infrastructure without escalating electricity prices for consumers.
