Chennai, April 16 (NationPress) The Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) made serious allegations on Thursday against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), asserting that a widespread cash distribution scheme is being orchestrated across various constituencies in Tamil Nadu as the state approaches its Assembly elections on April 23.

During a press conference in Villivakkam, TVK's General Secretary for Election Campaign Management, Aadhav Arjuna, claimed that funds totaling between Rs 20 crore and Rs 50 crore per constituency are being prepared for voter distribution.

He alleged that cash envelopes of Rs 10,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 3,000 per vote had been allocated, with organized systems established to ensure the cash reaches voters' homes.

Aadhav accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of being passive amidst these alleged practices, stating that enforcement agencies, including flying squads, have not taken sufficient action.

“There seems to be tacit inaction, which raises significant concerns about the electoral process's integrity,” he stated.

Highlighting the campaign strategy of his party, Aadhav noted that TVK candidates are directly connecting with voters across all 234 constituencies, emphasizing respectful engagement and issue-focused politics.

He mentioned that the campaign led by party chief Vijay has sparked a “statewide wave,” especially among women voters. “Families are evidently seeking change,” he remarked.

The TVK leader also criticized Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, alleging the misuse of police and administrative resources to stifle Opposition activities, including those of TVK.

Additionally, he accused Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin, V. Sabareesan, and others of corruption, claiming that illicit funds are being funneled into the electoral process.

Referring to a reported incident involving a woman candidate in Tiruchirappalli, Aadhav claimed that threats and violence indicate a deterioration in law and order, particularly affecting women's safety during the election season.

Reiterating TVK’s stance, he affirmed that while the party could resort to similar tactics, it has chosen not to engage in such practices.

“We are not in politics to distribute money. Our campaign focuses on transparent governance and significant change,” he concluded.

No immediate comments were received from the DMK or the Election Commission regarding these allegations.

Point of View
