Two Arrested in Gurugram for Fraudulently Obtaining Rs 26 Lakh

Gurugram, Jan 3 (NationPress) The police in Gurugram have taken into custody two individuals for purportedly deceiving a resident of Dundahera out of Rs 26 lakh by promising a job for his sister at Delhi University (DU), according to police reports.
The complainant, Ankur Rao, informed the police that the two suspects fraudulently extracted Rs 26 lakh in exchange for securing his sister a position as an Assistant Professor at DU during the academic year 2023/24.
Following the complaint, a case was filed under appropriate legal sections at the Udyog Vihar police station in Gurugram.
The complainant alleged that Omkar Yadav (30), a resident of Kherki Baghanki village, visited his home and asserted that he had connections with high-ranking officials at DU.
The accused claimed he could facilitate his sister’s success in the interview and secure her employment.
Additionally, he introduced Ankur to Sandeep Kumar (38), who is from Sampla in Rohtak, and negotiated a deal for Rs 32 lakh.
During this process, Ankur's sister received an email from the university for an interview set for January 10, 2024; however, Sandeep informed her that it was postponed.
Subsequently, she received another email on March 23 regarding document verification.
Later, both the complainant and his sister discovered that there was no scheduled document verification.
Ankur reported to the police that throughout this time, the accused extorted a total of Rs 26 lakh from him.
When Ankur demanded the return of his money, the accused allegedly threatened to kill him.
Following an inquiry by the Economic Offences Wing, an FIR was lodged against the accused, Omkar Yadav and Sandeep Kumar, at the Udyog Vihar police station in Gurugram.
During the investigation, both suspects were apprehended in Sampla, Rohtak, on Wednesday.
"The accused were presented in court on Thursday, and after four days, they were placed in police remand. Further legal actions are being pursued in the case," stated Sandeep Kumar, spokesperson for the Gurugram police.
