Jammu, April 9 (NationPress) A clash broke out on Wednesday involving joint security forces and militants in the Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Authorities reported that the security personnel acted upon receiving precise intelligence regarding the presence of militants in Jopher village, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Ramnagar police station.
“As the police and security teams advanced, they came under fire from the militants, igniting an encounter that is currently ongoing,” officials stated.

It’s noteworthy that on March 23, an encounter occurred in Sanyal village of Kathua district, situated just 4 km from the International Border. This encounter extended to Safiyan Jakhole village, resulting in the deaths of two militants and four police personnel. The joint forces expanded their 'seek and destroy' operations to the elevated terrains of Kathua and Rajouri districts.
There was also a temporary exchange of fire between security forces and militants in Billawar area of Kathua district. Reports indicated that five militants had crossed into the Indian territory from the International Border, and this group was involved in gunfights in Sanyal and Safiyan Jakhole villages, where two militants were killed.
On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah led a security review meeting in Srinagar, issuing directives to eliminate terrorism from the union territory and reestablish complete peace.
The Union Home Minister commended the efforts of the Army and security forces while stressing the importance of achieving zero infiltration and a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism.
This high-level security review meeting, chaired by Amit Shah, was attended by Lt. Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, Intelligence Bureau Director Tapan Deka, Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi, Army Commander of Northern Command Suchindra Kumar, and other key officials from J&K, including DGP and paramilitary chiefs.
