Jammu, April 6 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in the region on Sunday to kick off a three-day visit filled with activities in J&K.
He was welcomed at Jammu airport by Lt Governor (L-G) Manoj Sinha and MoS (PMO) Jitendra Singh.
The Home Minister proceeded directly to the Raj Bhawan in Jammu and has plans to visit the BJP headquarters located in the Trikuta Nagar area, where he will engage with party MLAs.
On the following day, Amit Shah intends to visit the ‘Vinay’ border outpost of the BSF along the International Border (IB) in Kathua district to assess the prevailing security conditions.
After the border visit, he will meet families of martyred policemen at the Raj Bhawan in Jammu on Monday. Four policemen lost their lives while combating terrorists in Kathua district on March 23.
During this meeting, the Union Home Minister will also distribute appointment letters to some family members of the martyrs at the Raj Bhawan.
On April 7, he will head to Srinagar in the late afternoon, where he plans to review developmental projects at the Raj Bhawan on April 8.
Amit Shah will visit the family of Dy SP Humayun Bhat, who was killed while confronting terrorists in the Kokernag area of Anantnag district on September 13, 2023.
He will also lead a security review meeting at 1 p.m. at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar, where he will evaluate the security landscape in J&K, focusing on the Jammu region, which has seen infiltration attempts and terrorist movements in districts like Kathua and Udhampur.
Officials indicated that the Home Minister aims to ensure zero infiltration and to eradicate terrorists from the mountainous and forested areas of the Jammu region and the Kashmir Valley.
Additionally, he will assess various developmental initiatives in J&K and discuss progress with the L-G, Chief Minister, and senior government officials.
The security review meeting in Srinagar will include Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, officials from the Home Ministry responsible for J&K, as well as leaders of Intelligence agencies and paramilitary forces.
Amit Shah will conclude his visit and return to New Delhi on the afternoon of April 8.
