Jammu, April 6 (NationPress) The Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a three-day trip to Jammu and Kashmir beginning Sunday. During this visit, he will inspect a forward post along the India-Pakistan border and assess the overall security situation in the union territory.
According to officials, the Union Home Minister is expected to arrive this evening.
His itinerary includes a security review, meetings with BJP MLAs, and a visit to the international border. He will also engage with the families of martyred policemen and evaluate developmental projects within the UT.
HM Shah is anticipated to reach around 6 p.m. Dr. Jitendra Singh, the Minister of State for the PMO, will join him in Jammu later that day.
A meeting with the BJP MLAs is planned for approximately 8 p.m. at the party headquarters located in the Trikuta Nagar area of the city.
On the morning of April 7, he will visit the Vinay border outpost of the BSF along the international border in the Kathua district.
In the afternoon, families of the policemen who were martyred during encounters with terrorists in Kathua will meet the Home Minister at the Raj Bhawan.
At Raj Bhawan, he will also provide appointment letters to some families of martyrs.
Later, he will depart for Srinagar in the late afternoon of April 7. On April 8, he is scheduled to assess developmental projects at 11 a.m. at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.
This will be succeeded by a security review meeting at 1 p.m. at the same location. He will focus on the security landscape in J&K, particularly concerning the Jammu region, where infiltration attempts and terrorist movements have been reported in areas like Kathua, Udhampur, and other districts.
Officials noted that the Home Minister's priority will be to ensure zero infiltration and to eliminate terrorists from the mountainous and forested regions of both Jammu and the Kashmir Valley.
The Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, along with home ministry officials responsible for J&K, leaders of intelligence agencies, and paramilitary force heads, will be part of the security review meeting in Srinagar.
HM Shah will conclude his visit and return to New Delhi in the afternoon on April 8.
