Jammu, April 4 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to embark on a three-day journey to Jammu and Kashmir starting April 6, aimed at conducting critical security review meetings and launching developmental initiatives.
During his visit, the Home Minister will preside over two significant security review sessions and will also inaugurate various developmental projects through virtual means.
As per sources, on April 6, HM Shah will convene a meeting with BJP MLAs in Jammu. He plans to gather insights from the MLAs, particularly regarding the upcoming budget session of the Legislative Assembly, which is set to resume on April 7 after a 12-day hiatus. This session is expected to conclude sine die on April 9.
The performance of BJP MLAs during the initial budget session of the current government will be a focal point of this meeting.
Additionally, he will assess the political landscape in the union territory with the party MLAs. Shah will be in Jammu until the afternoon of April 7 before heading to Srinagar. He is slated to return to Delhi on April 8. Minister of State (PMO) Dr. Jitendra Singh will accompany the Home Minister in Jammu.
Amit Shah is also expected to visit the International Border in Jammu and meet the families of police martyrs.
It is worth noting that in a recent encounter in Kathua, two terrorists were neutralized, and four police personnel lost their lives.
In Srinagar, the Home Minister will lead two distinct security review meetings, one for the Unified Headquarters and another concerning the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra pilgrimage.
He will virtually inaugurate several multi-crore projects for the people of the union territory and lay the foundation for additional initiatives.
During the Unified Headquarters meeting, strategies for achieving zero infiltration and eradicating terrorism from the mountainous regions of Jammu and the Kashmir Valley will be discussed, according to sources.
Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, along with officials from the MHA who handle Jammu and Kashmir, heads of intelligence agencies, and paramilitary forces, will join Amit Shah in these security review meetings.
The second security review meeting will specifically address security measures and other arrangements for the annual Shri Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to take place from July 3 to August 9.
The Home Minister will also oversee the inauguration and foundation-laying of multi-crore projects virtually from Srinagar.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is expected to participate in the event for the dedication of developmental projects by HM Shah.
The CM may also have a private meeting with the Home Minister.
