Jammu, April 7 (NationPress) Union Home Minister Amit Shah will make a trip to the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday, where he will meet with the families of the policemen who lost their lives in a recent confrontation with terrorists.
During his visit, the Union Home Minister will stop by a forward post along the India-Pakistan border to assess the security landscape and ongoing development initiatives. He is expected to fly to Srinagar later in the afternoon.
Authorities have heightened security measures, placing police and security forces on high alert in anticipation of HM Shah's visit.
He will visit the BSF Border Outpost Vinay in Kathua to evaluate the situation on the ground.
Additionally, HM Shah will meet the families of the martyrs from the Jammu and Kashmir Police at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu, where he will also provide appointment letters to some selected on compassionate grounds.
On April 8, he plans to review various development programs in the union territory (UT) during a meeting at the Raj Bhawan in Srinagar.
Following this, he will hold another meeting at the Raj Bhavan to discuss the security situation within the UT.
Furthermore, he will visit the family of Deputy Superintendent of Police Humayun Bhat in Srinagar, who was killed on September 13, 2023, while combating terrorists in the Kokernag area of the Anantnag district.
During his time in Srinagar, the home minister will assess numerous developmental projects.
He recently held a nearly two-hour meeting with BJP MLAs at the Trikuta Nagar headquarters of the party in Jammu on Sunday evening.
Shah indicated that the situation in Jammu would normalize soon as security forces are actively working on it.
He reiterated that the stance on statehood is definitive, stating it will be restored at the right time.
This marks Amit Shah's first visit to J&K since an elected government took office in October of the previous year.
In preparation for the Union Home Minister's visit, security measures throughout Srinagar and the surrounding Valley have been intensified.
The main roads in Srinagar are under close scrutiny, with extra checkpoints established.
